Eleven engineering-related GCSEs may be axed

Eleven engineering-related design and technology courses could be scrapped from the GCSE system under controversial proposals being considered by the government. The Qualification and Curriculum Authority, the schools examination quango, plans to drop subjects including automotive studies and combined courses such as design and technology with electronics.
