Market remains unconvinced by BAE strategy

Bae systems' results, revealed today, should show that synergies from its £7.7bn acquisition of Marconi Electronic Systems last year will leave it with healthy prospects. But questions remain over its future share of the spoils within the Airbus consortium, and the market has yet to be convinced of the wisdom of the Marconi deal. Analysts have pointed out that some of these concerns are something of a sideline. BAE Systems already has rock-solid contracts for Eurofighter (in which it has a 37% stake), and its share in the Airbus alliance is (despite the haggling) assured.
