The flying car fantasy is alive and well, with a US firm completing hovering tests for a vehicle that could take off and land vertically. The Skycar from California-based Moller International looks like a cross between a sports car and a tiny jet fighter. The company claims that the craft, which is powered by four rotary engines, could be driven on the road at about 35mph or, with a pressurised cabin, fly as high as 30,000ft with four people at speeds of up to 400mph.
