I have been reading comments in The Engineer about the employment situation for engineering graduates with interest. I have two sons who are at university taking MEng mechanical engineering degrees at Surrey and Manchester, respectively. Recently, we attended the Formula Student Final at Silverstone and saw teams competing from universities all over the world. However, I was extremely concerned by the views expressed by some of the companies exhibiting there and others that I have met recently.
