Revolutionary reactor could be ready in 10 years

Lockheed Martin believes a new compact fusion reactor (CFR) can be developed and deployed in less than a decade. The company's Revolutionary Technology team admits, however, that its new fusion reactor is at a very early stage, but set out the reasons it is optimistic. Research leader Tom McGuire said the project is four years into its progress. He explained that the CFR borrows design aspects of a number of fusion concepts that in previous years have failed to fulfil their potential. Its key aspect is that it is small: 'a few metres in diameter'.
