Diagnosing CDI in just minutes

Patients with hospital-acquired Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) could be diagnosed in minutes at their bedside, potentially speeding up treatment and improving recovery rates, thanks to technology that is being developed in the UK.CDI causes severe diarrhoea and can prove fatal in vulnerable individuals so tackling it has become a government priority.In an EPSRC-funded project, researchers at Cranfield University will develop a diagnostic tool for detecting CDI without sending samples for laboratory analysis.
