2050 targets - is there a role for synfuels?

Currently, 200,000 vehicles in the UK have some form of electrification in the powertrain. Given there are around 35 million vehicles registered in Britain, the electric revolution clearly hasn't fully reached either the heart or the wallet of the people. Yet, it seems likely this will change, albeit slowly.
