American Electric Power Co. announced a high-level management re-shuffling Tuesday that appears to set up a list of top candidates to succeed current AEP Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Morris at the helm of one of the nation's biggest electric utilities.rnThe changes include the elevation of Brian Tierney, currently executive vice-president-AEP Utilities East, to executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective October 1.rnThe promotion positions Tierney to report directly to Morris, and thus makes him a likely candidate to succeed Morris as head of the Columbus, Ohio-based energy giant.
