The government has set out an ambitious roadmap for meeting tough, legally binding carbon budgets requiring a 34% cut in greenhouse gases by 2020 relative to 1990.rnThe government says it has produced the first comprehensive UK roadmap to a low-carbon future, showing how it intends to meet its first set of legally binding five-year carbon budgets stretching out to 2022 (ENDS Reports 409, pp 35-37 and 411, pp 8-9). This will achieve 34% greenhouse gas emission reductions relative to 1990, though considerable uncertainties remain.
