‘Troubled waters’: Widespread water pollution devastating wildlife, say charities

A combination of untreated sewage, agricultural runoff, pesticides, mine pollution, plastics andpharmaceuticals threatens wildlife and has made rivers 'dangerous to bathe in', says a reportfrom a coalition of major environmental groups. In a report released today, the RSPB, the National Trust, the Wildlife Trusts, the Rivers Trust, Wales Environment Linkand Afonydd Cymru say that the UK’s 200,000km of watercourses and 40,000 lakes, “are under severe threatsfrom pollution”.
