Environmental fines in Scotland reach record total

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) imposed a record £284,400 worth of fines on environmental offenders last financial year. According to the agency's annual enforcement report published in January, fines handed down by the SEPA in 2014/15 averaged a record £20,314. In comparison, environmental fines in England and Wales averaged £18,078 during the same period.
