摘要

The fine soil runs through the farmer's fingers like sharp sand. It is dry and there is very little binding it together. "It blows all over the place," says Chris Fogden, who has farmed the land for 30 years. "One year tonnes of the stuff blew off the field across the margins and we spent a long time putting it all back." The farm is on the privately owned 4,500-hectare Euston Estate near Thetford in Norfolk. It is home to cattle, sheep, sugar beet and some robust and wary pigs.
