Owning a personal radio station is not the sort of thing many people aspire to—or, indeed, imagine they could ever afford. Yet, surprisingly, over the past year setting up a radio broadcasting service has become within many people's reach. And, like the BBC'S exemplary World Service, the new radio stations that are springing up can be heard practically anywhere. Several hundred new global radio stations have gone on the air over the past year.
