There are increasing opportunities world-wide for the use of magnesium parts die cast with extremely thin walls and a superior surface finish. This is especially the case with electrical, electronics and telecommunications product applications. The advantages of magnesium die castings in offering built-in EMI/RFI shielding, a superior strength-to-weight ratio, and excellent thermal dissipation properties are now better known among engineers in these industries. Where lighter weight is important, Mg die cast housings can more cost-effectively meet the new performance requirements of emerging electronic products in competition with plastic moldings.
