Lion Nathan drops CCA bid

Australian brewer Lion Nathan pulled out its US$4.95 billion bid for bottler Coca-Cola Amatil. rnThe move follows an announcement from Amatil's parent, The Coca-Cola Company, that it had ended talks with Kirin, Lion Nathan's Japanese owner. rnThe takeover of Amatil, which was proposed in December, would have given Lion Nathan 60 percent of the $6.9bn soft drinks market in Australia as well as a business in canned fruits and vegetables.
