When German machinery manufacturer Mall+Herlan acquired the assets of Frattini-Tech in 2009, they included know how in the manufacture of thin-walled aerosol cans and beverage bottles with the C3000 highspeed rotary necking technology that the Italian company had been developing. Since then, Mall+Herlan, part of the Swiss Wifag-Polytype Holding, has developed the process into a complete production line for lightweight aluminium bottles and last month at its Seriate facility near Milan presented the Bottlemaker to brand owners, customers and the trade press. First revealed earlier this year at Cannex in Atlanta, the Bottlemaker converts printed aluminium cylinders into bottles at speeds of up to 3,000 a minute.
