Japanese brewer Kirin will start producing its flagship beer in Thailand from October, as part of an agreement with local company San Miguel Brewery Inc. Philippines-based San Miguel, which will begin packaging Kirin's Ichiban Shibori in glass bottles at one of its facilities in Thailand, is part owned by Kirin Holdings, which has a 48 percent stake in the firm. Ichiban Shibori will be sold in pubs, bars and Japanese restaurants across Thailand, with Kirin aiming to have a presence in more than 1,000 locations by the autumn of 2014. San Miguel will also begin canning the beer brand in Thailand next year.
