Novelis opens South American expansion

Novelis has officially opened its expanded operations at Pinda-monhangaba, in the Sao Paulo region of Brazil. The $340m investment increased annual capacity at the facility by more than 50 percent to 600,000 tonnes of aluminium sheet. Representing Novelis' largest investment in South America in the past decade, the project includes the installation of a third cold rolling mill. The facility also houses the largest aluminium recycling centre in South America, and Novelis plans to further expand it, said Tadeu Nardocci, president of Novelis South America.
