The Brazilian arm of world-leading brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev has said it will invest US$140 million at its Lages brewery, in the south of the country. Having signed a letter of intent with local authorities in July, AmBev plans to add a new packaging line and increase employment at the site from 500 to 600. Based in Santa Catarina state, where AmBev last year sold 468m litres, the brewery supplies three local distribution centres, as well as the states of Parana and Rio Grande do Sul.
