Everything is falling into place for the US tomato canners in California who are set for an export bonanza following a severe drought in China, coupled with a huge domestic 2013 harvest and three years of tightly-managed inventories.The state's food giants have announced that they intend to purchase 13.0 million tons of processing tomatoes this season. It would be the second-largest crop in state history, just behind a record 13.3 million tons in 2009."I hear export opportunities for tomato products have improved with the weak dollar and the high quality of US products," said Rob Neenan, chief executive of the California League of Food Processors.
