Cantec, a division of Swiss company Soudronic, has further developed its established Can-O-Mat seamer for operation with aerosol cans.Rolf Geide, general manager at Cantec, said: "We started about two years ago to adapt aerosol canmaking to the Can-O-Mat. Basically the same principle is used for the domes as we had developed for the bottoms."We wanted to provide the industry with an option for downgauging, following the success of developments made for other types of cans. Therefore we amended the stations with some extra features for processing thinner sheets as used today. All these features were developed for food and beverage cans initially but also worked fine on aerosol cans."
