Anew design of cut-edge tooling for cupper dies which almost wholly eliminates marks, scuffs and blemishes on the cups has been introduced by Stolle. Conventional cut-edge tooling use four- and six-point linear ground shear surfaces which have edges that come into contact with the canstock during blanking, says Stolle, and blemishes and scuff marks can appear and lead to problems such as tear- offs during the D&I process.
