It's a good time to be in the US aluminium can industry: There's great demand for your cans, designers are creating new ways to twist containers into different shapes and you're the king of recycling. That last one polishes your positive public image and saves you millions.The US recycled 67 percent of its aluminium can production in 2012, though that's a bit deceiving. The industry imported 13 billons cans to be recycled, in addition to the 92 billion aluminium cans it produced. Regardless, such return dwarfs other packaging segments."It's great to see the aluminium can extend its lead as the most recycled beverage container, far exceeding comparable rates for glass and plastic," the Aluminum Association president Heidi Brock said.
