This will be The Canmaker's last report on Rexam plc, one of the world's three largest canmakers, before it becomes part of Ball Corporation. Rexam's recent financial report provides key information about its operations, which will be helpful in reviewing Ball's ongoing performance. Ball's acquisition of Rexam is the largest deal by value in the canmaking industry's history. It combines the major market position of Ball in North America (estimated at 37 percent in 2013) with Rexam's major share in Europe (39 percent), South America, the Middle East and India, as detailed in Table 1. It will give Ball significant market share on both the demand and supply side of the canmaking market. On the can demand side, Ball now becomes a more equal partner to its consolidating customers in the beer and carbonated beverage sectors worldwide.
