An impressive year-end for canmakers

In 2015 there were many headwinds facing the canmaking industry, and indeed the US economy. They included a mature metal can market in North America, turmoil in the Middle East, Brazil slowing after its binge in 2014 during the World Cup, and the continuing impact of aluminium warehouse premiums in Europe. But the financial year for both Ball and Crown was favourable, as Europe and other markets offset the profit slide in China and Middle East.
