Canmaker Crown celebrated completion of the first new beverage can plant to be constructed in North America for more than 20 years with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the plant on 9 May. The plant at Nichols, New York, represented an investment of US$132 million and took slightly more than a year to complete after construction was started in December 2015. Production on the first line started on 20 January and Crown's chief executive Tim Donahue revealed during the first quarter financial results conference call that the second line had been completed in April.
