A day in the life

Phil Fisher is managing director of Can-Pack's operations in the UK at its plant at Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, which was built by the Poland-based canmaker in 2008 to manufacture aluminium beverage cans. What are your day-to-day activities and responsibilities? The plant in the UK has two production lines capable of making close to two billion cans a year. My role is very varied, dealing with anything and everything really. I tend to stay quite close to the detail of the business, so get to see and voice my opinion on most matters. I am intensely proud of what we have achieved here, taking the UK business from nothing 10 years ago to its thriving position today. In 2017 we celebrated making our 10 billionth can, which was a wonderful achievement for all the team. We have a fantastic team of skilled and committed employees here, which I will admit makes my job very easy.
