International Commercial Law: 2006 Developments

This Article surveys progress during 2006 in the international community's initiatives to modernize and harmonize international commercial law. A major highlight this year was in July 2006 when both the U.S. and Switzerland became signatories of the Convention on the Law Applicable to Certain Rights in Respect of Securities Held with an Intermediary (the "Hague Securities Convention"). Both countries are proceeding forward with ratification/adoption. The Convention is to enter into force three months after three nations have ratified it.
