Researchers from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Cam-bridge, and the UK-based Institute for Cancer Research have pinpointed 2 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on chromosome 15 associated with an increased likelihood of developing lung cancer, a major step in understanding the molecular interactions that lead to the disease.rn"We have found the signposts along the genome that indicate increased risk for lung cancer, but we still don't know which gene is being affected," said lead author Chris Amos, PhD, professor, MD Anderson Department of Epidemiology.
