The first Dornbirn Man-Made Fibers Congress was held in July 1962 under the title "Man-made Fibers today and tomorrow. Taking place from 14-16 September 2011, this year's theme will be "The next 50 years", a glimpse into the future. For 2011 the total number of lectures is expected to be around 100, of which two will be plenary lectures (45 minutes each) with determining influence. The organisers have commented that they want to dedicate more time to important future developments that will shape our society in the following decades and that will noticeably influence research topics and desired properties of man-made fibres.
