摘要

This paper examines the effect of test speed and yarn twist level on the bairiness of worsted yarns. Pure wool yarns of three different twist levels are spun on a worsted ring frame, then tested for fairiness on the hairiness attachment to a Uater Tester 3 at three speeds of 25, 100, and 400 m/min. The results indicate tat regardless of the yarn's twist level, yarn hairiness tested at 400 m/min is higher than that obtained at 25 and 100 m/min, and the difference is statisticaly significant at the 5 signficance level. But there is no statistically significant difference between hairiness results obtained at 25 and 100 m/min. In addition, yarn hairiness readings in single measurements follow a lognormal distribution.
