BASF appoints head of textile chemicals

Chemical company BASF has appointed Francois Desne global head of its leather and textile chemicals business unit, as well as senior vice president of its performance chemicals division. Mr Desne joined BASF in 2003 as business development manager of corporate planning and controlling for BASF Coatings. He later held management positions in BASF's coatings business in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining BASF, Mr Desne held operational responsibilities at a large French chemical company. He succeeds Dr Reinhard Leppkes, who has led the business unit since 2007.
