Nautilus? bearing from SKF reduces wind turbine drive train loads, increases turbine reliability and enables compact turbine designs

Nautilus? is a single bearing solution for wind turbines from SKF that carries all the rotor loads (forces and moments), and allows only rotor torque to be transmitted to the drive train, which prolongs the drive train life and therefore turbine reliability. Additionally this allows the designer the freedom to depart from the traditional main shaft design and integrate the bearing directly between the machine frame and the hub. In such designs the nacelle dimensions and weight are also reduced, which deliver cost savings to the machine builder.rnThe bearing is designed for multi-megawatt onshore or offshore wind turbines with or without a gearbox.
