NWtexnet has been awarded a major contract from the North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA) to manage a skills development project for the technical textiles sector.rnThe project will develop skills in two areas vital to the future success of the sector, namely new product development and outsourcing. These areas were highlighted in a recent independent report as providing opportunities to increase both turnover and profits in the sector.rnIn a separate piece of research, the Sector Skills Council for the industry, Skillfast-UK found that there were significant skills gaps and a shortage of suitable training courses in product development and outsourcing.
