ANALYSIS OF UMA AND FEMTOGELLS IN FIXED MOBILE GONVERGENGE

This article analyzes two concepts in the Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) domain, namely Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) and Femtocells. Wireless Broadband Access technologies like WiMAX [Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access] and 3G [Third Generation] suffer from higher propagation losses in indoor and urban canyon environments. Internet Protocol (IP)-based broadband is proposed for use to extend the reach in such areas. This article briefly outlines the issues, possible solutions and challenges in implementation of FMC.
