Invitel gets ready for LLU push outside its home turf

Hungary's second-largest DSL operator plans to make inroads into national incumbent Magyar Telekom's heartland, using IPTV as its weapon of choice. Invitel is the incumbent operator for approximately 17% of Hungary's households. It offers voice, broadband and IPTV in its concession area and plans to extend its reach using local-loop unbundling. The operator is owned by Hungarian Telephone and Cable (HTCC), which bought and merged several local operators under the Invitel brand in 2007.
