Worldwide sales of camera phones will reach 295.5 million units in 2005, Gartner said. This represents 38% of total worldwide phone sales, up from 14% in 2004, the researchers said. Some 85 million camera phones will be sold in Europe in 2005, more than 55% of total mobile terminal sales in the region. By 2009, sales will rise to 143 million, representing nearly 90% of the western European mobile market, Garter said. In N. America, camera phones are expected to reach more than 70 million in 2005, representing 47% of total device sales. Sales of camera phones in the Asia Pacific region continued to grow, Gartner said. In Japan led camera phones accounting for nearly 92% of total cellphone sales.
