Verizon seems increasingly likely to buy a 45% share of Verizon Wireless owned by Vodafone, analyst firm Gimme Credit said. “We have maintained steadfastly that Vodafone was unlikely to part with its position,” the firm said in a research report: “However, recent developments at Vodafone and the formidable rival formed by the proposed AT&T and BellSouth merger suggest a greater likelihood of a buyout.” Gimme Credit said the main downside for Verizon is a likely $40-$45 billion price tag.
