A federal appeals court ruling allowing some claims in six cellphone brain cancer lawsuits to go forward shows that the wireless industry still faces risks in health lawsuits, a Medley Advisors note said. But the mixed decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia -- allowing some claims to move forward while barring others -- could "limit industry liability," Medley said. The claims, filed early in the decade, seek several billion dollars total in damages. Plaintiffs bringing lawsuits against wireless companies alleging health claims "continue to carry a heavy burden of proof," Medley said. "Nonetheless, there remains some debate in the scientific community regarding long-term use of mobile phones."
