AUGUST FCC MEETING DATE SET

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said the next meeting of the commission will be Aug. 27. It had tentatively been scheduled for Aug. 11 by Commissioner Michael Copps, while he was acting chairman. The FCC in some years past had aimed for an early August meeting, but the schedule had gotten erratic under former Chairman Kevin Martin, industry sources said. The FCC has a busy August, a critical month in the development of the agency's national broadband plan. Two staff workshops on the plan are already slated for the same day as the meeting.
