Service Providers Aren't Comfortable with International Anti-Counterfeiting Agreement Yet

European e-communications providers are still unhappy with provisions of the nAnti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. They asked the European Commission and Parliament nto push for a final version that protects Europe's high standards for privacy and human nrights. In a joint message, Cable Europe, the European Telecommunications Network nOperators' Association, EuroISPA and the GSM Association said they support a resolution just nadopted by the European Parliament resolution stressing that ACTA must not change EU law non intellectual property enforcement or make governments require "three strikes" setups to npunish digital infringement. But they said they're still worried that enacting criminal penalties nfor IPR infringements could go beyond current EU legislation and that permitting business nagreements to deal with infringement could lead to "extra-judicial cooperation" that contradicts nlaw.
