Infrastructure vendors have had a reasonably good year, with contracts nfor next-generation networks starting to come through and a strong shift into services to nsupport operators' broadband network rollouts, Informa said. Handset vendors have seen the nemergence of a mass market for smartphones, it said. Each operator needs to decide nwhether to build it own smartphone platform or accept that the Internet and operating system nplayers will dominate, the firm said. “We have seen smartphone adoption in the lower price ntiers,” as mobile operators look to increase data revenue from a broader user base, it said, nadding that the trend will accelerate in 2011.
