Survey Highlights Dangers of Mobile Multitasking Behind the Wheel

Thirty-eight percent of drivers say they’ve been hit or almost hit by another driver who was ndistracted by a cellphone, according to a survey conducted for Nationwide Mutual Insurance nCompany by Harris Interactive. A previous study Harris conducted for Nationwide showed nthat a quarter of people who download apps for their phones admit to using them while ndriving. "The number of Americans who multi-task by using a mobile application while driving nbecomes more troubling as the market for feature phones and applications steadily grows," nsaid Bill Windsor, Nationwide's associate vice president for consumer safety.
