House Republican leaders asked the president to stop the FCC from making networknneutrality rules. In a letter, Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Minority Whip EricnCantor, R-Va., said the commission's “political agenda threatens to slow job-creatingninvestments and jeopardizes our economic recovery.” FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski “isnnow threatening to regulate broadband as an old-fashioned, monopoly-era phone service,ncontradicting a decade of FCC decisions under Democratic and Republican administrations,”nthe Republicans wrote. Genachowski's proposal to reclassify broadband under Title II of thenCommunications Act is “a politically-motivated end-run around both the courts and thenCongress to implement his network neutrality regulations,” they said.
