The FCC is trying to do too much too soon to follow through on the National Broadband Plan, nLarry Darby, a former FCC chief economist and Common Carrier Bureau chief, said in a New nYork Law School panel discussion. Chairman Julius Genachowski has released a list nof about 60 followup orders, rulemaking notices and notices of inquiries, noted Darby, now a nconsultant. "For an agency that has trouble completing three or four major proceedings a nyear, that meets only once a month, that's a very, very tall order," he said. The ambitious nagenda comes from an agency that in 1998 said of intercarrier compensation overhaul "this is none of the most important things we have to do and we're going to do it next month," Darby nsaid, saying the issue is now part of the broadband plan.
