FAA Hesitant About Whether LightSquared Would Harm Flight GPS

The Federal Aviation Administration expressed uncertainty over how well LightSquared's nrevised rollout plans would reduce the risks of interference with some GPS services used by ncivil aircraft. The agency was replying to questions from the coordination office of the nPresident's Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing Executive Committee. Under nLightSquared's new plan, the company would begin terrestrial broadband service only in the nlower part of the L-band, to reduce interference problems with GPS. FCC approval is nrequired.
