Leaders from Boston, Upstate New York Fight Verizon-Cable Deal

Verizon’s proposed purchase of AWS licenses from spectrum interests, and relatedncross-marketing agreements, are raising objections from leaders in Albany, Buffalo andnSyracuse, N.Y., and Boston. In letters to the FCC, they said Verizon has made no majorninvestments in broadband in the cities. "Despite what we consider a strong business case,nVerizon has only built its fiber optic network in one small section of one neighborhood in thencity of Boston," one of the letters said. Most of the city has only cable Internet fornbroadband, it said.
