First-Phase Auction for Mobility Fund Restricted to ETCs, Tribes

Only eligible telecom carriers and tribal bodies participate in auction 901 for Phase I support nfrom the Connect America Fund's Mobility Fund, said an FCC public notice. It said common ncarriers should petition the commission of any state where they seek designation, and carriers nthat aren't under the commission's jurisdiction should petition the commission. The nauction will offer up to $300 million in one-time support to carriers that commit to provide 3G or nfaster service where it isn't available.
