La communauté d'agglomération d'Hénin-Carvin (Pas-de-Calais) prélève environ 8 millions de m~3 d'eau par an à partir de ses différents captages et alimente quelque 175 000 habitants (communauté d'agglomération d'Hénin-Carvin, plus les communes situées à l'extérieur de son territoire). Le champ captant de Quiéry-la-Motte produit, à lui seul, 5 millions de m~3, soit plus de 60% de la production totale. D'où la nécessité de la protection du lieu-dit du champ captant de l'Escrebieux. Conformément à la loi sur l'eau de 1992 et en application de l'arrêté préfectoral de DUP (déclaration d'utilité publique) daté du 30 mars 2001 relatif au site de Quiéry-la-Motte, la Communauté d'Agglomération d'Hénin-Carvin a instauré un vaste dispositif de protection des captages.%The Community of Agglomeration of Henin-Carvin (France, Pas-de-Calais) takes approximately 8 millions of cubic meters of water per year from its various wells, and feeds some 175.000 inhabitants (the city of Agglomeration of Henin-Carvin itself, plus the cities located around its territory). The collecting field of Quiery La Motte produces 5 millions of cubic meter per year, representing more than 60% of the total production. This explains the need for the protection of the corresponding collecting field, called Escrebieux River. In accordance with (ⅰ) the law on water of 1992 and (ⅱ) the pre-fectoral decree of DUP (declaration of public utility) signed on the 30th of March, 2001, relating to the site from Quiery la Motte, the Community of Agglomeration of Henin-Carvin launched a large campaign for the protection of its collecting fields.
