Production and characterization of bicomponent fibers with core/sheath-configuration using PPS and PET

摘要

In this study bicomponent fibers using the high performance polymer polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and the standard polymer polyethylene tere-phthalate (PET) are produced. Due to the good chemical resistance and high temperature stability of PPS possible applications of these fibers are in filters for drying applications or geotextiles. PPS has not been used in bi-components so far, experience in melt spinning is therefore not available.
